BRT is considered to have one of the highest elephant densities anywhere in Asia.
It forms a critical corridor between the Western and Eastern Ghats ecosystems.
The Soliga tribe are the original inhabitants of these forests and play an active role in conservation.
The reserve was declared a Tiger Reserve as recently as 2011 but already shows strong tiger recovery.
